The Truman Rules
You can maximize your enjoyment of the show and avoid any issues with The Truman security by following the rules below. If a specific event allows for items listed below, it will be noted in the show description. If you have any questions, you can contact The Truman at 816-205-8560
Accessibility Policy
The Truman is dedicated to providing for the needs of guests in need of ADA accommodations. The venue has a dedicated ADA section near the front of the stage where anyone (and a guest) physically needing to sit during a show is welcome. Just let the friendly staff know once you arrive that you need to be seated in this section and they will be happy to direct you!
Additionally, while the seating in our ADA section is reserved for those with disabilities, we do have additional limited cocktail seating available to anyone over 21 in the Aristocrat A’ List Loft (stair access only).
Camera Policy
Typically The Truman does not allow professional cameras, cameras with removable lenses, or tablets such as iPads. Additional restrictions are sometimes placed by the artists, so please call the Truman Box Office with questions regarding specific shows.
Child Policy
Most shows are all-ages events. Children must have a ticket to attend a show. Any show that is age-restricted may not allow a minor to attend even with a parent or legal guardian present. Age-restricted events will also require an ID.
COVID-19 Related Policy
The safety of artists, guests, and employees is The Truman’s top priority. They will follow all local/national mandates & CDC guidelines*.
*Safety requirements and procedures are subject to change based on local & federal regulations and/or mandates.
The following items are required for entry to most ticketed events.
- A full course of COVID-19 vaccination, with their final dose at least fourteen days prior to the show. Card or a photo of the card will work, and will be verified against a valid state issued ID.
- A negative COVID-19 test result (molecular, PCR or antigen) that was administered by an official testing center. Test results must be dated no more than 72 hours prior to entry. Home testing kit results will not be accepted for entry.
Face masks are also strongly encouraged.

General Admission Policy
All General Admission events are strictly on a first-come first-served basis.
There is seating near the stage available for guests with need of accommodations or may not be able to stand for long periods of time. Just ask a staff member for help once you arrive.
Lost and Found Policy
If you find a lost item, please give it to event staff and they will take it to Lost and Found for you. If you lose an item during a show, you can check with event staff for assistance. Or you may call The Truman at 816-205-8560 to inquire about a lost item. Please be sure to leave a detailed description of your item and complete contact information.
The Truman does not claim responsibility for any lost items.

Prohibited Items
These rules detail what is not allowed at the venue.
- No Weapons of any kind. This includes knives, canons, muskets, throwing stars, long wallet chains, lead pipes, and anything else that might hurt somebody. If you aren’t sure, don’t bring it in.
- No Smoking (this includes vaping) *The venue has a deck for smokers and non-smokers alike
- No Outside Food or Beverage
- No Illegal Drugs
- No GoPros
- No DSLR cameras
- No Selfie Sticks
- No Mace
- No Backpacks
- No Hula Hoops
- No Glow Sticks
- No Umbrellas (If it rains, you can leave your umbrellas by the front door)
- No Bad Attitudes
These could be subject to change per the artist request.
The Uptown reserves the right to search anyone, and their belongings, who enter the premises.
Re-Entry Policy
There is no re-entry allowed. Please do not leave until you the show is concluded.
Refund Policy
All sales are final. Absolutely no refunds – no exceptions. Lineups and times are subject to change.
If a show is cancelled or postponed there will be specific instructions given to receive a refund.
Smoking Rules
The Uptown is a completely non-smoking venue, including the use of vapor and electronic cigarettes. There is a smoking exit located south of the main bar inside theater. You may use that door only to enter/exit the smoking area. There is no re-entry from the main entrance by the box office.
